Everything gets worked out on the john

So, maybe you've heard, most of the kids are going to public school this year, except Nick, who's homeschooling.

Yesterday morning was off to a rough start, as Nick told Daniel that he gets to play minecraft when he's done with his work, which is not true, actually. So Daniel was sort of crying around about not wanting to go to school, and about missing his old school, and about wanting to play minecraft.

We had a little pep talk, he made it out the door, and when I picked him up in the afternoon, he was totally happy, because someone had had a birthday party, and he was coming home with Tootsie Rolls.

So I asked how he got out of his sour mood.

"I went poop," he says.

"Pooping made you feel better about your school?"

"Sort of. Mostly I just sat on the toilet and cried, because that's the only place no one could see me."

"So you cried on the pot until you didn't miss St Joe any more?"

I'm telling you, this has been a most difficult decision. I don't know whether to be glad that all of his old feel-good-about-life-triggers are still firing, or if crying on the pot is the saddest thing I've ever heard.

A resemblance? Romantic carriage rides are so 2004.

I hear impersonators make good money.
